The Voice of EcoPolitics

Ecological sustainability, the conservation of environmental systems, biodiversity and bioregional cultures, must be the goal, not unrestrained population growth, economic expansion or so-called sustainable development.

Sustainability is the biggest issue in the world today. Slogans about sustainablilty abound. But the challenge to conserve the richness and diversity of our one and only home, planet Earth, is being evaded, if not actively subverted. The Real World website puts Earth first. It seeks to proselytise the message of ecological sustainability. In it, we warn of the growing imbalance between humankind and the rest of Nature. We argue that most talk of 'sustainable development' is but a sham, a surface cosmetic to disguise the on-going rape of the Earth. We advocate the construction of a 'conserver' society, one built to last, one which will share this finite planet with future generations and all other species.

Real World pages are arranged under the following headings:

EcoView: the editors' worldview

EcoPoints: topical issues from the perspective of ecological sustainability

EcoFiles: explores a wide variety of practical and theoretical issues

EcoReview: current books, films, TV programmes, etc

EcoWatch: a critical eye on the unreal world of media and advertising

EcoList: selection of the best books and other aids towards sustainability
